Everything is here to help you plan your storytelling walk.

  • Transport

The walk takes place in Leeds city centre, which is well served by public transport and has several carparks, which charge a fee. The start of the walk is five minutes from Leeds city train station. If you are travelling with a group on a coach or minibus, then the best place to drop off is on Park Row, just before you come to City Square. To collect your group at the end of the walk, there is a coach bay on Kirkgate just by the church, where coaches can wait for up to 20 minutes.

  • Toilets

There are free public toilet facilities, including disabled toilets, located at various points either on, or near the walk. Five minutes from stop 1, there are toilets on the main concourse of Leeds train station; within a short walk of stops 3 – 6 there are toilets at Trinity shopping centre and at the final stop in Leeds Market, there are toilets located off Row Five. All disabled toilets are accessible with a key.

  • Access

The route of the walk is fully wheelchair accessible. At stop 1, instructions are given to use the arched gate and steps to leave Mill Hill Chapel, however there is an alternative route with a ramp to the right of the building as you face the Chapel.

The full script and a short summary of what you will hear at each of the stops are available to support everyone to fully access the walk. Please click here to download the script and here to download the synopses.

  • Safety on the walk

Most of the walk takes place within pedestrianised areas of the city centre, however there are two parts of the walk where you will walk along, or cross busy roads. Between stops 1 and 2, you will walk along Park Row and between stops 7 and 8, you will cross Vicar Lane to get to Leeds Market. Please take care on these sections of the walk.

Please also ensure that headphones are taken off and put away whilst moving between all the stops on the walk. If more than one person is sharing a single device using multiple plug-in headphones, they should disconnect from one another before moving.

  • Location

The walk takes place entirely outdoors, so please ensure that you have suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.

  • Duration

The full walk is less than half a mile in total length. Timings for each of the stops are listed below and walking time between each stop takes no more than a minute and a half. If you are short of time, or want to break the walk up, then you might decide to split the walk into two halves and do it over different days.

    Stop 1 - 15 minutes

    Stop 2 - 6 minutes 53 seconds

    Stop 3 - 9 minutes 40 seconds

    Stop 4 - 7 minutes 31 seconds

    Stop 5 - 9 minutes 39 seconds

    Stop 6 - 2 minutes 30 seconds

    Stop 7 - 3 minutes 37 seconds

    Stop 8 - 10 minutes 47 seconds
